The in-person, deliberative session of Town Meeting will be held on Friday, March 15, at the Canterbury Elementary School, 15 Baptist Road, beginning at 7 pm. This is officially called the Second Session.
Voters will take up 13 warrant articles, all related to town spending. In addition to the town operating budget for the coming year, the articles would appropriate money for:
- Making the first year’s payment on a seven-year lease/purchase agreement of a new backhoe;
- Buying a new road grader;
- Putting money into seven capital reserve funds;
- Making the payment on the Gold Star Bond;
- Preparing new lots at the Maple Grove Cemetery;
- Installing a ductless AC and heating unit for the Canterbury Historical Society archives storage room;
- A contract to upgrade the town website;
- Buying a steam cleaner for the Highway Department;
- Buying a folder/inserter for the Town Clerk/Tax Collector’s office;
- Replacing and repairing hand rails at the Town Gazebo;
- Installing gutters for the Meeting House; and
- Accepting the forced distribution of money from the Sam Lake Trust Fund for the town.
In some cases, the costs would be covered in whole or in part by money withdrawn from capital reserve funds.
