Story Time: Join us Tuesday mornings at 10 for stories, songs and a craft. This program is perfect for infants through Kindergarten. Come to the library and meet your children’s future classmates while fostering a love of reading. Note: There is no Story Time on May 14 so Miss Cheryl can attend the NH Children’s Librarian Conference to bring more wonderful ideas to our library. We love Miss Cheryl.
Tunes, Tales and Tumbles: Join us Thursday mornings at 10 for songs, stretching, stories and more! This program is perfect for our youngest patrons from babies through preschool. Come enjoy this active and music-filled program and help your children nurture their love for the library, books and their community.
Special Children’s Programs in May
Join us for a special Story Time with Cate McDonald on Tuesday, May 21, at 10 am. Miss McDonald is a senior at Belmont High School and a resident of Canterbury. For her senior project, Miss McDonald wrote and illustrated a children’s book about families.
Join us on Thursday, May 30 at 10am, for Play-Based Learning. During this hour, the children are encouraged to explore different stations that promote learning through play. Watch your child as they become explorers, architects and artists in this child-led, open-ended play time.
Teen Night: Teens! Join us on Thursday, May 30, at 5 pm for a party to celebrate your 2024 graduating classmates! We are so proud of you!

The Old Man Boring Book Club: This group reads and reports on favorite nonfiction titles. Join them on Thursday, May 2, at 6 pm back by the fireplace. Snow kept them apart in April, let’s hope that doesn’t happen again this month!
Elkins Cafe: On Thursday, May 2, at 2 pm: Qwirkle is back by popular demand. Come and play this colorful and addicting tile game.
Evening Book Group: In May we will read Canary Girls by Jennifer Chiaverini. We meet for discussion by the fireplace on Wednesday, May 15, at 6 p.m. Copies are available at the circulation desk, on Libby and Hoopla.
Murder, Mayhem and Misadventure: This month we will have a discussion about books that incorporate the “Misadventure” in our MMM name and see what ideas you have for the next few months. The sleuth still has a few ideas up her sleeve, but would like to canvass the group for more ideas. Join us on Tuesday, May 28, at 2:30.
Free tech help: Thursdays from 4 to 6 pm, in half-hour time slots, Kal McKay offers free tech support at the library. Please schedule an appointment and give a brief description of the nature of the issue. Kal’s appointments fill up quickly so be sure to sign up.
Pins and Needles: Pins and Needles meets by the fireplace every Wednesday at 2 pm. Bring your latest work in progress; all levels are welcome! We have enjoyed many new participants and will continue to meet through the end of May.
