Thanks to all who cleaned our roadsides!

A huge thank you to everyone who participated in this year’s Townwide Roadside Cleanup! The weather gods helped melt the snow, it didn’t rain, and as a result, our roadsides look fabulous. As a result of the awesome article placement in April’s newsletter, more than a dozen new participants signed up, adding to the 40+ people who have participated in years past. Plus who knows how many others who just gazed at the road outside their house and said “this year, all this litter goes away.”

Remember, this doesn’t have to be a one-day occurrence. You can pick up blue bags at the Transfer Station year-round. You don’t have to sign up with me, or with the dumplings. It’s all on the honor system, so be honorable. And if you find something during your cleanup that would require payment at the Transfer Station, take a picture of it by the road so you can demonstrate your honorableness.

And finally, it wouldn’t be a roadside cleanup without the observations of Canterbury’s resident “litterary” critic, Arnie Alpert. If you haven’t already read his piece in InDepth NH, check it out here:

It will make you feel proud to be a Canterburian, especially if you are part of the “corps de cleanup.”

See you all next year!
