It’s finally here! Farmers Market opening day is June 5!

It’s finally here! The Canterbury Farmers Market Opening Day is Wednesday, June 5, from 4  to 6:30 pm. Join us in the center at our traditional spot next to the Elkins Library. Live music by our friend Don Bartenstein! Check out new and returning vendors and see what local goodness they have for you. Bring a friend and bring your appetite – new this year is fresh pizza at the market! As always, dogs are welcome on leash (please be mindful of the heat). Wear your fanciest “Happy Hat,” or stop by the Kids’ Activity Table and make one on the spot. Can’t wait to see you all!

Calling all teen musicians: The July 24 Farmers Market will be featuring local teen musicians! Each performer gets 25 minutes on the stage, and $30. Interested? Send your contact info to CanterburyFarmersMarket@gmail.com, attention Ray Craigie. Three spots left! Last summer this was one of our more popular events.

Your Farmers Market Needs You!

We are a fun group of dedicated volunteers working together to make the weekly Canterbury Farmers Market possible. Just like it takes a community to feed a community, it also takes a community to operate the market! There are many opportunities to lend a hand:

Set up: Every week we could use help with setting up tents/tables for the market, musicians, and vendors. Wednesdays, 2:30 to 4 pm

Signs: If you are old enough to drive, you could put road signs up around town on Monday and take them down after the market on Wednesday. We have several routes to choose from. Might take an hour total. We also put up signs and a banner in the center on market day, starting at 2:30.

Clean up: Help take down tents and signs, pack up the vendors, etc. 6:30 to 7 pm.

Events: We have a “Sandwich Slam” the 3rd Wednesday of the month, where we make sandwiches to order using products from the vendors. This is always a busy day and extra help is appreciated! 2:30-4

Long term: The Board of the farmers market is also looking to fill the long term positions of Treasurer and Market Administrator. You are welcome to sit in on a monthly board meeting to check us out, or stop by the Market Info Tent any Wednesday to say “Hi!” and ask questions.

We can be reached at CanterburyFarmersMarket@gmail.com, message us through FB, or “contact us” through the website www.CanterburyFarmersMarket.com

We are grateful for help weekly or less frequently – whatever you have time for. Volunteering for the market is a great way to meet neighbors and help support a valuable community event. Thanks!
