The next meeting of Elkins Public Library Board of Trustees is on Monday, June 17 at 6 pm.
The library will be closed on Wednesday, June 19, for Juneteenth.
Story Time: Join us Tuesday, June 4, at 10 am for stories, songs and a craft. This program is perfect for children ages birth through Kindergarten. Come to the library and meet your children’s future classmates while fostering a love of reading.
Tunes, Tales and Tumbles: Join us Thursday, June 6, at 10 am for songs, stretching, stories and more! This program is perfect for patrons ages birth through preschool. Come enjoy this active and music-filled program and help your children nurture their love for the library, books and their community.
Teddy Bear Picnic: Join us on Tuesday, June 11. or Thursday, June 13, for Teddy Bear Picnic! Bring a stuffed friend and a blanket and a snack to eat, we’ll have games, songs, stories and more!
Join us on a summer adventure!
There will be no Children’s Programs the week of June 17-20 as the library staff will be preparing for our Summer Reading Program: Adventure Begins at Your Library! This summer our adventures will take us outside; fishing, hiking, nature journaling and so much more. Stop in the library on June 24 and pick up an activities calendar, or visit our website at elkinspubliclibrary.org, or follow us on Facebook and check out our events page. Here are June’s events:
Monday, June 24, 10 am: our first summer Story Time and a Nature Walk around the library grounds.
Thursday, June 27, 10 am: the Children’s Museum of NH will be at the library with their program, Adventure All Around: Earth, Sea, and Sky.
Saturday, June 29, from 10 am to noon: join us at Petals in the Pines for a Nature Scavenger Hunt and open play in the Nature Explore Outdoor Classroom and Pavilion.
Teens: We know summer can be pretty busy, but we’re hoping you can make it to some of our scheduled activities. Any time you stop in to the library through the month of July, make sure to grab a scratch ticket. You can win an instant prize or put a “non-winning” ticket into the raffle for a chance to win a prize basket including gift certificates to local businesses.
Programs
The Old Man Boring Book Club: This group reads and reports on favorite nonfiction titles. Join them on Thursday, June 6, at 6 pm back by the fireplace.
Evening Book Group: In June we will read Where You’ll Find Me by Ty Gagne. We meet for discussion by the fireplace on Wednesday, June 12, at 6 pm. Copies are available at the circulation desk, on Libby and Hoopla. This is in keeping with our Summer Reading Theme of Adventure.
Murder, Mayhem and Misadventure: In keeping with our Summer Reading theme, at our Tuesday, June 25 meeting at 2:30, we will give out the book The Last Traverse by Ty Gagne to read. We will talk about the author and on July 25 the author will be at the library for a presentation and to answer your questions.
Free Tech Help: Thursdays from 4 to 6 pm, in half-hour time slots, Kal McKay offers free tech support at the library. Please schedule an appointment and give a brief description of the nature of the issue. Kal’s appointments fill up quickly so be sure to sign up.
Pins and Needles: Pins and Needles meets by the fireplace every Wednesday at 2 pm. Bring your latest work in progress; all levels are welcome!
