That’s the spirit!

Sisters Leni and Luci, Thomas, and Emma showed off their volunteer spirit at the Canterbury Fire Department pancake breakfast back in April. With Chief Gamache and Lieutenant Bickers along for the “ride,” the kids in their very official (plastic) fire helmets put the department’s utility vehicle through its paces. They even learned how to work the compressor and airbag that would help lift a vehicle off a trapped person or obstacle. In about 18 years the Fire Department might have some more fantastic firefighters!

A bouquet of thanks: Check out the water trough on the edge of the cemetery lawn next time you drive through the center. The beautiful petunias, marigolds, red grass, and one mystery plant (which may or may not be “gomphrena”) were donated by Kevin Bragg of Canterbury Plantation. Watch them grow!
