Cathy Borner, 71, passed away July 22, 2024, in Hospice House at Concord Hospital. Her boundless energy slipped away after a two year tug-o-war with a rare incurable cancer.
Born in Englewood, N.J., she grew up in Easton, Conn., where her love for all animals flourished. A gifted athlete and champion equestrian, she owned Appaloosa horses and was a sanctuary stop for any stray critter. She was president of Sky Lines Supplies in Florida before relocating to New Hampshire to care for her mother. Cathy became a counselor at Odyssey House in Canterbury for those young souls struggling with addictions and life’s challenges. She was a Canterbury resident for over twenty years.
She transitioned to Gerrish Manor Assisted Living, where she wore many hats, inspiring the residents with her enthusiasm, creativity and compassion. Her fun activities and programs made them roll with laughter and spring up to sing and dance. Cathy was always being contacted by those she impacted, young and old, right up until the end.
She was predeceased by her parents, Carl Borner and Carol Borner London, and a sister, Judy Cronin. Surviving brother Kent Borner, of Preston, Conn., and sister Nancy Stockwell, of Wendover, U.K., were with her on her final journey. Her next stop is in for a real treat.
