Did you know that Elkins Public Library has a seismograph? With the help of citizen scientists Steven Lundahl (Canterbury) and Alan Kafka (Boston College and Weston Observatory) the Raspberry Shake unit has been up and running all summer and collecting valuable data. Go to https://raspberryshake.org/ to take a look. We are station R7591!
We have started the Elkins Public Library S.T.E.M. Initiative to bring science-based learning tools to the library thanks to a generous donation from FOEPL and Steven Lundahl. You can borrow a telescope, binoculars or a voltage meter for a week with your library card.

The family of Don Eckhardt have generously donated the funds for a memorial bench to be placed at the library to honor their father’s love of the Town of Canterbury and Elkins Public Library. The family will have a short remembrance in the Rita Braskie Memorial Garden on Sunday, Oct. 13, at 1 pm and they would like to make it open to the public. The family also donated the beautiful sculpture “Gretchen” inside the Library in 2007 to honor Mrs. Mary Eckhardt.
