There are two known official town histories of Canterbury; the first, written by James Otis Lyford, was published in 1912. It records the history from 1727, our charter year, until 1912. A digital copy is available at the Canterbury Historical Society website https://canterburyhistory.org

The second town history, written by Kathryn Grover and published in 2017, contains 20th-century events and people, and is available for purchase from the Society.
