Elkins Free Seed Library

Elkins Public Library is once again offering seed through our Free Seed Library. The Seed Library is supported by a group of volunteers, the Friends of Elkins Public Library (FOEPL), and the Canterbury Garden Club. We have many varieties of seed all donated by generous seed companies such as High Mowing, Burpees, Baker’s Creek and others. We also encourage you to save seeds from your harvest and bring it to the library to share. The seed library works to strengthen regional food security, self-reliance and to encourage the growth of food and native plants.

In addition to vegetable, herb and flower seeds, we are offering over 60 varieties of native plant seeds donated by NH Pollinator Pathways for you to try. Our native seed is ready for planting through cold stratification. Instructions for three types of cold stratification are located at the Elkins next to the seed library.

All are welcome to take seeds from the library during the Elkin’s regular open hours. You do not need to have a library card or be a Canterbury resident to take seeds. We aim to encourage the growth of food and native plants!
