The Tricentennial Committee, a subcommittee of the Historical Society, was formed to honor the rich history of Canterbury. Its mission is to plan, organize and conduct multiple events during 2027, our Tricentennial year.
2027 is less than two years away and we need your help planning a year-long 300th birthday celebration! The committee is already at work, planning for at least one event a month, plus the creation of commemorative items.
Projects discused so far are a Tricentennial quilt, mugs, medallions, pewter ornaments, books, posters of historic houses, parades, road races, scavenger hunts, dinners, music, reenactments, and a time capsule. As you can see, the possibilities are endless!
We’re hoping the projects also might include YOU!
What are your thoughts and ideas? Do you have an expertise you are willing to share? Please let us know by filling out a questionnaire found at the Canterbury Store, Sam Lake House Office or Elkins Library, or email your
ideas to canterbury300@gmail.com by April 22, 2025.
Thank you, the Tricentennial Committee, and
Co-chairs Naomi Scanlon and Heidi Southard
