Now that the coldest months are behind us, the Treasure House is reopening with our weekly schedule on Saturdays 10am – 2pm.
In case you don’t know, the Treasure House is located at the Transfer Station to the East of the recycling building. Drop off items that you DON’T need and/or take home items that you DO need. It’s FREE either way. In my experience, about half the items dropped off are adopted quickly, sometimes within minutes!
Yes, items can be returned. We’ve had a few things though the TH cycle multiple times (including the “boomerang candy dish”).
There are a few rules:
- NOTHING BROKEN or dirty .. no one wants junk.
- NO CLOTH or clothing, stuffed toys or anything that mice
like to eat… there are bins for that in the recycling area. - NO BOOKS … the Elkins Library has a recycling book bin
outside, or a book sale inside for the good stuff. - NO CORDS … electrical items that can’t be re-homed are
a liability, especially out of date electronics.
We are trying to extend the hours — I urge you to consider volunteering for a 1 or 2 hour shift per month. It’s a great way to connect with people; both volunteers and fellow shoppers.
BTW: The TH’s greatest treasure is our volunteers!
