Every family has a story — and the Elkins Public Library wants to help you tell yours! Join long-time journalist and storyteller, David Tirrell-Wysocki will share proven tips on how to collect, compile and present stories of your family, your community, your organization or yourself.
The program includes conducting effective interviews; suggestions for organizing documents, photos and other materials; and how to present your story.


Stephen S. Foster and the Radical Abolitionists, Thurs.,
April 24, 6:00pm, Town Hall


In the 1830s and 1840s, Concord, NH was a center for radical abolitionist activities. One of the movement’s most colorful and daring activists was Canterbury native, Stephen Symonds Foster, a practitioner of what John Lewis would later call “good trouble.” In this presentation, Arnie Alpert will tell Stephen’s story, nested in the broader story of those who took an unpopular stand against one of our country’s original Sins.


Special Children’s Programs for April School Vacation

LEGO CLUB: Tuesday, April 29. Join us from 10am to 12pm, for Lego Club, an April school vacation favorite! We will have DUPLOs out for our youngest patrons.


SPECIAL MOVIE SHOWING: Wed., April 30, 2pm. Join us for a special viewing in the Children’s Room of the motion picture based on an adaptation of the popular children’s book series by Dav Pilkey. WOOF, WOOF!

TINY CREATURES SHOW, Thursday, May 1,10am. This super sensory show includes a visit from an Armadillo, Chinchilla, Python, Tarantula, Tortoise and a Bullfrog! This is a show for all ages!


The Library will be closed on Thursday, April 17 for the NH Librarian Spring Conference.


Library Board of Trustees meet Mon., April 21, 6pm.


Thank you for your support at the Town Meeting. The passing of warrant article 12 means that work will be scheduled soon to seal up the building to make it more fuel efficient. The staff and trustees would like to thank the Community Power Committee, especially Tom and Cheryl Franco, for their tireless work in putting together the information and petitioning the warrant article.

Story Time: Join us Tuesdays at 10 am for stories, songs and a craft. This program is perfect for preschoolers.


Tunes, Tales & Tumbles: Join us on Thursdays at 10am for a program filled with singing, dancing, rhymes, musical instruments and more! This program is perfect for our littlest patrons. We are closed on Thurs., April 17.


Chess Mates: This youth chess club meets Mondays 3:30 – 4:30. There will be no chess club Mon., April 28th.


On Pins & Needles: This group meets Wednesdays at 2pm by the fireplace. Bring your work in progress and enjoy some lively conversation!


The Old Man Boring Book Club: Thurs., April 10, 6pm. This group meets to discuss non-fiction titles that they have read and enjoyed. The newest addition to OMBBC is Stephanie Jackson’s dog MAX! Clearly this
group is not boring at all. 🙂


Murder, Mayhem and Misadventure, April 22, 2:30. We will discuss “To Kill a Mockingbird”, given out at our March meeting. If you would like to join us, there are copies at the desk. A discussion of new books at the library and highlight a new mystery author.


Evening Book Group: Our next meeting will be Wednesday, April 16th at 6pm to discuss the book:The Beach at Summerly by Beatriz William. Copies are
available at the circulation desk. All are welcome.


Dementia 101: Come grab a cup of tea at the library fireplace on Thurs., April 10 at 2:00 pm and attend the informational session called Dementia 101. Our friends from “Home Instead” are coming to educate us.


Free Tech Help: 1/2 hour tech help appointments are on Thursdays between 4:00 pm and 6:00pm. No question is too small! Kal’s schedule fills up weeks in advance so call the library now to reserve a space. Thank you Kal!
