There are two announcements this month:
1. The featured article for April on the CHS Website will be about the fire that destroyed much of Canterbury Center in April 1943. Find it at CanterburyHistory.org
2. If you live in an old house in Canterbury, you might be interested in displaying an historic sign. The Historical Society is offering historic signs for sale. You can see a sample below. The durable aluminum, non-reflective outdoor signs are 12”H X 15”W. They are expected to last at least 40 years and cost $45.00 each. Since history is always in the making, one distinguished resident of Canterbury wants an historic sign for his house that was built in the 1970s!
As you can see on the sample, you will need to provide the name of the original owner (in this case Hackett) and the date the house was built (C. 1750). More information and order forms are posted on the Canterbury Historical Society Website. (Www.canterburyhistory.org).
