Canterbury Garden Club News

The Canterbury Garden Club chose enhancing the Municipal Center Complex as a project site and our contribution to the upcoming Canterbury Tricentennial. Our “Wild and Styled” proposal was approved by the town selectmen, and the project will be underway
this spring.

The “wild” portion will be a restoration of the meadow surrounding the buildings, bringing life and pollinator/bird habitat back to the area. The field will be mowed along the edges of the pavement; a wide, mowed walking path will meander through the middle of the west side to the cattail pond, and then along the woodland border back to the entrance on Baptist Rd.

The “styled” portion will involve renovating the beds in front of the Municipal Building, improving drainage and installing a native plant matrix garden. If you’re interested in learning more about this garden style, join us for one of our work parties as we proceed with the installation over the next year.

Watch for announcements in the town email/newsletter and on FB. If you want to help the club support this project, there will be an opportunity to adopt a plant/tree/shrub. Details on this will be forthcoming. If you want to get involved or have questions, contact Donna Miller at donna@petalsinthepines.com or call 603-783-0220.
