Canterbury Fire & Rescue

Swim With Care! // The gate at the Canterbury Riverland Recreation Area is open from 7am – 8pm. With warm weather here, many people will be using the beaches along the Merrimack river. Be aware that the current is much stronger than it appears! We have posted a life safety ring, throw rope, and life jackets at the 4 beaches accessed through our town. There is also a sign with the exact location where each ring is posted. If you need to call for help, the coordinates or beach name will help first responders in reaching you more quickly!

Fire Permits Required // We would like to remind all town residents that any type of outside burning is prohibited without a permit (until ground is once again covered by snow). While permits can be obtained at the fire station, we encourage you to secure your permits online at www.nhfirepermit.com.

Say Yes to Carbon Monoxide Detectors! // Carbon monoxide (CO) is a colorless, odorless, and tasteless gas that is toxic to humans and animals when inhaled. Be sure that your home is equipped with carbon monoxide detectors! Many detectors sense both CO and smoke. If you have questions or need assistance getting or installing detectors, reach out to us. Our non-emergency number is 603-783-4798, Mon.-Fri., 7:30am – 4:00pm. You can also email us at mgamache@canterburynh.gov

**If you believe that you may have carbon monoxide in your home call 911.**
