Back to School time is a wonderful opportunity to review our Safe Child Policy! We welcome many children to the library each and every day. The library attempts to make a safe environment for children to select books and materials and attend library programming. However you have to be 10 or older to do this without a parent or caregiver present. Children under ten cannot be left unattended in the library, even during a program. If you have questions, come get a copy of our policy and talk to one of the librarians.

We had an AMAZING summer of reading, programming and special events. Great thanks to the Friends of Elkins Public Library who make this Summer Reading program happen, without their fundraising we would not be able to offer these opportunities to Canterbury families. In addition to passes, the Friends give us money to purchase most of our annual passes. While most places close for the season in October, many are still open. Call or come in to plan your next outing.
Trunk or Treat // Stop by The Friends of Elkins Public Library table (featuring cardboard Dolly) at the CES Trunk or Treat event on Saturday, October 24 from 3-5pm. Swing by the Library on Saturday, October 31 from 5:00 to 7:00pm on the front porch to dance with the Rockin Dinosaurs!

BLOOD DRIVE // Wed., Nov.4 from 1-6 pm in the Parish House. A while ago, one of our favorite patrons decided to organize a blood drive. She had been through a medical crisis and had a blood transfusion which saved her life. She took it upon herself to find organizations that would partner with her to bring this to Canterbury! We are pleased and honored to support her efforts. Thank you Shelby Holt for being a community hero!
